On 25 November 1952, Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap premiered in London and has been running without interruption for 70 years. Now it is our turn to stage this classic, with its fast-paced plot full of suspense and irony. The characters are never stereotypes; they are ambiguous and lively, and perfect for a modern staging. My intention is to combine rigour and eccentricity, respecting the work while also reinventing it. As the poet says, the duty to pass on tradition must not stifle the pleasure of interpretation. Although the story originated in a 'British' context, it also speaks to contemporary audiences. The conflicts, secrets, and follies of the protagonists remain universal and relevant. The company approaches the text as a precise game, yet one that is open to invention. Snow, isolation, and suspicion will make the audience prisoners of this 'trap'.
