After waiting for more than eight years, the Teatro della Società in Lecco has been brought back to life. The 2026 Season of Emotions is the first theatre programme since the reopening, marking a historic moment for the city and representing a new beginning that evokes both the future and the past.
Having reopened on 29 November 2025 following extensive restoration and safety works, the 19^(th)-century theatre in Piazza Garibaldi is once again at the heart of Lecco’s cultural life.
Designed by the Lecco-born architect Giuseppe Bovara in 1843–1844 and inspired by Milan’s Teatro alla Scala, the Teatro della Società has been a symbol of the city’s identity for almost two centuries. Born of the community’s shared desire, it now returns as living heritage, restored to the public in all its former glory.
The 2026 Season of Emotions marks the beginning of this new chapter. It is a diverse programme combining drama, music and dance, with the aim of placing art centre stage and offering opportunities for encounter, reflection and wonder.
Each event celebrates the theatre as a place of sharing, dialogue and discovery, embodying the same spirit that inspired its founders when the curtain first rose to the strains of Gaetano Donizetti’s Anna Bolena in 1844.
Today, as in the past, the Teatro della Società serves as a focal point for Lecco and the surrounding area, bringing together tradition and the contemporary, and making culture the driving force of the community.
